Salvation
Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whoever shall call on the name of the Lord (Yeshua) shall be saved.
All that God requires of us is to call upon Him, to pray in faith unto Him, and He will answer and save. The offer is wide, free, and universal.
Salvation is being saved from the righteous judgment of God upon the sinner. Our sin separates us from God, and the consequence of sin is death. The good news is that God has rescued us and given us forgiveness through Christ Jesus. Jesus' death on the cross and resurrection has achieved our Salvation. Salvation is the gracious, underserved and unearned gift of God that is available to whosoever will put their faith in Christ Jesus. The deliverance from eternal punishment and judgment from sin is given freely to those who believe on the Jesus as Lord and Savior, repent, and accept His gift of righteousness. Salvation comes in Jesus alone.
Salvation comes from the Greek word, soteria, and the Hebrew word, shalom. These words have a rich meaning which includes: completeness, peace, health, preservation, safety, fullness, rest, prosperity, and wholeness.
Joel 2:32 And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the LORD (Yeshua) will be delivered; For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem There will be those who escape, As the LORD has said, Even among the survivors whom the LORD calls.
YESHUA IN HEBREW IS A VERBAL DERIVATIVE FROM "TO RESCUE", "TO DELIVER".
Peter’s quote in Acts 2:21 is with the original passage from Joel 2:32, salvation and deliverance are the same thing. Deliverance is a part of our salvation, as is healing, prosperity, righteousness, justification, forgiveness, sanctification, and glorification.
Jesus’ name and attributes could belong to no one but God:
John 1:18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is Himself God and is at the Father's side, has made Him known.
Colossians 1:15 Jesus is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation
John 1:1-2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning
Jesus was God in the flesh:
John 1:14 The Word (God) became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Saved by putting faith in Christ Jesus:
Galatians 2:16 nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.
Romans 3:28 a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.
Acts 13:39 Through Him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
2 Timothy 1:9 He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not because of our own works, but by His own purpose and by the grace He granted us in Christ Jesus before time eternal.
Titus 3:5 He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord (Yahweh) shall be saved.
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord; shall believe in the Lord Jesus Christ with the heart, and shall confess him with the mouth, and shall worship him in Spirit and in truth, and submit to all his ordinances and commands shall be saved.
Acts 4:8-12 Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people, if we are on trial today for a benefit done to a sick man, as to how this man has been made well, let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by this name this man stands here before you in good health. He is the STONE WHICH WAS REJECTED by you, THE BUILDERS, but WHICH BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone. And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
John 14:6 Jesus said Himself, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
We cannot save ourselves; no one else can save us either. But Jesus can.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].
Hebrews 9:12 through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
1 Peter 2:24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His stripes you were healed.
At the cross Jesus made atonement for us so that we can enjoy all His benefits. The Lord Jesus redeemed us from sickness and disease just as much as He redeemed us from sin. Many people have been taught that forgiveness is what Salvation is all about. Forgiveness is a part of it but there is so much more. We were also healed by the stripes of Jesus. It is not God's will for us to be sick or poor any more than is it His will for us to be in sin.
The ministry of Jesus clearly reveals to us that God is able and willing to heal all people who come to Him in faith!
Satan has deceived many people into thinking that God has allowed them to be sick. However, scripture clearly tells us, God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power and he went about doing good healing all those oppressed of the devil. You see, the devil is the one oppressing mankind with sickness and disease. God's will is for us to be healed! God demonstrated His will by sending Jesus to the cross to purchase our wholeness.
"And this woman, a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?" Luke 13:16
Today, the choice is yours. Will you believe in the Lord Jesus and receive God's grace? God has already made His choice when He sent His Beloved Son Jesus to purchase our Salvation with his precious blood.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Your Son Jesus Christ. You said in Your Word that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Father, I am calling on Jesus right now. I believe He is the Son of God. I believe He died on the cross for my sins, bearing in His body my sickness and disease, that He was raised from the dead on the third day, and He's alive. Lord Jesus, I am asking You to come into my heart. I repent of my sins and surrender myself totally and completely to You. Thank you for taking my place, bearing my judgment, punishment and paying my sin debt. Heavenly Father, by faith I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and that in Him I have eternal redemption and from this day forward, I dedicate my life to follow Him.
